First Week Home

The first night home with Manoli, I cried ! He would wake up every hour. I was so overwhelmed and extremely tired. I was also having trouble with breastfeeding and had to give him formula a few times, which killed me. I wasn't pumping anything out and my nipples were too sore from him trying to suck anything out. First few days were tough for me. I'm a schedule kind of person and not having established one yet stressed me out. I cried a few times during that first week. Thank goodness for my husband who always found a way to calm me down and call the pediatrician to make sure we were doing everything right.

There were moments when I thought, "What the hell did I get myself into ?!". I so missed the days of sleeping all thru the night. Everyone kept telling me it would get better and it has. Finally !

Birth Story

Manoli Dimitris Fostinis, born 6 pounds 8 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long, was born on September 17th, 2013 at 3:13PM.

I was induced that morning at 4AM because doctors said that he was on the small side and not growing. They estimated him to be around 5 1/2 pounds. Luckily he was more ! I gave birth to him vaginally and pushed for 43 minutes. Not bad for it being my first.

I had an epidural but felt pain in the last push. Definitely was no walk in the park. After his birth, the doctor had to push/massage my stomach to get the placenta out, which hurt so bad. THEN, she had to stitch me up because I tore. Painful.

Hours and a day after giving birth to Manoli, I kept telling my husband I would have rather had a C-Section. Recovery is no easy process. You have to take it day by day. I was so sore and SWOLLEN down there for days. Looking back now though I'm glad I got to experience a normal vaginal delivery. It's not to common anymore from what I see and hear about. I also weighed 117 pounds at the beginning of my pregnancy and had people tell me my hips wouldn't be wide enough to deliver. Booyah I did ! And I feel damn proud to have done it.
